XP Pro 64 Bit

E

Eric Fischer

Not too long back, I picked up a new Asus P4P8X
Motherboard complete with a 3 Gig P4 Processor, and 512 MB
of PC2700 DDR (Which of course is getting upgraded to 2+
gigs of 4200DDR as soon as I get some more cash).

I'm looking to make full use of the system here, and stop
emulating 32bit on Win98. I might just be blind, and the
information might be right in front of me. But when and
where will I finally be able to buy just a copy of XP Pro
64bit (Preferably Upgrade, since I've got my 98 disk
here)? All I can find so far is that if I want to buy a
new comp from HP, I can get it on there.

Greetings

It doesnt matter b/c you dont have a 64Bit processor. Microsoft has already
released XP 64Bit for Intel's Itanium. Windows XP 64Bit for AMD's Althlon
64Fx will be out mid 2004.

Forgot one part. You can only get Windows XP 64Bit for Intel's Itanium on a
new PC or if you are an MSDN subscriber.

Greetings --

Why? That's a 32-bit CPU you have there. Only Intel's Itanium &
Itanium II and AMD's Opteron CPUs are 64-bit.
