Where do I go to change the preferences for programs to uses certain files.
I downloaded a graphics program, but now usesthat program to open any
graphic file. I dont want to use that and want to use another, where do I
make the change. thanks

The easiest way is to hold 'shift' & right click the
file, select 'open with...', tick the box if you want to
make it permanent!

Such programs usually have an option in their setup - or Tools or
similar menu - to set File Associations. When you use that from the
program you *want* to use, it will take over. Might be worth going to
that first in the program you *don't* want and unchecking everything so
it does not try to grab the associations back if you load it
