Hi. Have just installed XP pro on a new laptop. Getting
problems when moving boxes (fast) around with the mouse.
The pc stops occationally and the box freezes for a short
while. The HD seems to be working. Have a very capable
processor and 512Mb RAM.

Tried to remove the process "explorer.exe" from the
windows task manager. Then the problem disappeares (but
then I of course can't access the menus. What is the
problem? Is the explore.exe corrupt or are there driver
problems/conflicts?

Sounds like a video card driver problem. Are you sure you have all the
latest drivers?

You might try to disable some of the "effects" that are enabled by default.
Some of the lessor powered video cards have a hard time processing
"transparent" and "fade effect" etc. It is a matter of being able to process
all that video data fast enough, which some of the older cards or on board
video chips might not be able to do. If it is onboard video, make sure there
is enough shared memory allocated to video....this too could be a factor.

Thank you for answering! I'll look into the video-card
driver issue. Have an ATI RADEON 9600 128MB video-card, so
it should be capable...
