I have a small lan, W2K SBS on an HP Server(P4), 2 x 98 PC's PIII's, 1 x XP Pro PC HP Evo D510 P4 2GHz.
When attempting to access shared files on the network (Company folder) on the XP PC, it takes around 45 - 60 seconds to open a small Excel spreadsheet, whereas on the 98 PC's it only takes a couple of seconds.
I have changed the network card in the problem PC to a 3Com gigabit, put in a 3Com gigabit switch, and enabled gigabit on the server, so the server and problem pc are connected at 1000, the other pc's are connected at 100. This has had no effect.
Anyone have any ideas?

Turn off Internet Connection Firewall on the XP machine.
