Ever since installing my Sony DRU-510A DVD Burner and it's proprietary
packet-writing software, called DLI, I have had problems with burning
CD-RW's. During the installation, the message siad that this would
replace XP's packet-writing software and "add functionality". Not only
has it reduced the functionality of the burner, but it also reduced the
functionality of my generic DVD drive, as well.
I now have to have DLI enabled in order to back-up data files (ie -
Quicken) to the burner from within programs, but I have to "format" a
blank CD-RW disk before I can use it. That formatting takes about 30
minutes. And then I can never revert that CD-RW disk back to "normal".
Also, when DLI is enabled, I find that many games which require a CD in
the drive don't detect the CD in the drive. Once I disable DLI, these
games can again detect the CD in the drive.
Obviously, this forces me to constantly switch between DLI enabled and
disabled, which is a pain.
So, my question is, how do I re-install Windows XP's built-in
packet-writing softaware, with the least amount of effort/downtime? I'm
using XP Pro.
Thanks!
