XP Outlook Experss Spell Checker won't work

I just installed XP. The Outlook Express Spell Check has a dim icon and
clicking it doesn't do anything. The Outlook Express Help states that the
Outlook Express Spell Checker uses other program spell checkers. I have both
Word 6.0 and Excell 5.0 installed and both Spell Checkers work fine. How do
I get Outlook Express to use one of these Spell Checkers? Thanks for your

Make sure the keyboard settings in the control panel are
set on english.
