Xp not recognizing all installed ram

AMD Opteron 165 on an AROCK Dual 939 MB
I upgraded from 2G to 3G
MB has 2 512MB sticks and 2 1G sticks.

BIOS recognizes all 3G in dual channel mode at boot.
MemTest86 recognizes all 3G and tests it all OK.
Everst shows all 4 sticks.

A new install of XP64 shows 3G in control panel/system.

XP32 only show 2G in control panel/system.
Even a new install of Xp32 shows only 2G.

Control panel also states "Physical Address Extension" even if I add
/nopae to the boot.ini.

Adding /3GB to boot.ini makes no difference.

Any thoughts?

Well intel says dual channel isnt available unless all 4 sticks are the
same...
Either way,are they installed properly,the 2 512mb should be in 1 & 3 or 2
& 4,
as the 1G would be 1 & 3 or 2 & 4.Also,try clearing the CMOS.

Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG and go to the BOOT.INI tab.
Click on the Advanced Options button and make certain that the
checkbox for the /MAXMEM= line is clear and that there is no value in
the data box for that line.

Good luck

Andrew please go away. And stay there.

This is an AMD based system so information from Intel is irrelevant.

Thanks Ron, but I already checked that and it is clear.

Oh by the way Andrew, if you really had read my post you would see
some interesting things.
Like the word AMD and the words "BIOS recognizes all 3G in dual
channel mode at boot". But thanks for jumping in anyway.
