XP not recognize dual processors

I have Dell 610 workstation. I have installed two Intel
PIII Xeon 550 processors with 1MB cache. The Dell setup
utility recognizes the two processors and cache size
correctly. In Windows XP Pro, My Computer, Properties,
only one processor is listed and it is reported to be
512KB cache. Any ideas why and how to have XP recognize
both processors? Thanks!

Did you install both processors before you loaded XP? If not, at the
very least you'll have to do a repair install of XP (Pro only, as Home
doens't provide two-processor support) to pick up the second
processor. If you loaded XP and replaced both processors, same thing.

Personally I'd do a complete clean reinstall, not just a repair
install, but that's a personal preference.

Dual-processor recognition is somehow connected to ACPI, so you should make
sure ACPI is enabled in your bios. My P4 HT processor is seen as an "ACPI
Multiprocessor PC" in Device Manager and Task Manager shows two windows
under Performance > CPU usage history.
