xp not assigning drive letter

I have just reformatted my HD and have three partitions C, D and E, A is my
floppy drive and F and G are my cd drives, windows recognises that I have an
80gb mass storage device attached and that it is running correctly but it
hasen't assigned a drive letter to it and as such it doesn't appear in my
computer and I cant use it. Can anybody help me to resolve this?
 
Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the USB HUBS or Firewire device, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows,
to find the device drivers again automatically.
