XP no backup facility??

There doesn't appear to be a backup facility in XP in system tools - only restore for which is uses its own restore points

However, As instructed by Symantec when loading the blastfix.exe (to fix the worm) I turned off the restore facility and turned it back on again. I now have no restore points but have many problems on the PC. My only option is to go back to the original load disk which I intend to do. I have backed up my work and email files onto CD but also want to back up documents and settings etc.. but it will not allow me to do so. When I drag and drop documents and setting onto D:\ it says that the source and destination are the same, yet it allows me to copy some of the files in it's subfolders - can anybody help with how to get round this or tell me about a full back up I can do

Please remember to remove (removethis)from my email address

If you are using windows xp home edition then the backup utility is not
installed by default. To install it follow the instruction on my website
www.freelanceit.glowinternet.com Click the WinXP Faq button and take a look
at question 21

If you use the Windows backup utility, you must first
backup to
a folder on your hard drive. Using that folder, you can
then backup
to your CD, but you cannot backup your HDD directly to
the CD.

There are many third party backup utilities. Perhaps
this will be
of some help to you:
