XP networking

I have two computers both XP home edition.
Both are set to use MSHOME workgroup and all drives are set for sharing.
From one, I can see the workgroup and both computers - but I cannot access
the other computer. I get the msg "cannot access".

I cannot ping the other computer.

The second computer cannot show the workgroup -access denied.

Any ideas?????

if you have a software firewall running -- disable it
are both computers in the same workgroup ?

Rather than disabling the firewall, add each PC in the network to the
others' list of addresses that the firewall will permit to pass.

ZoneAlarm, for example, by default prevents any other PC on the network from
accessing one with ZoneAlarm running.

Have you run Network Setup on both PCs? I had a similar problem and that
seemed to do the job.
