XP networking : wifi / domain & workgroup

Wonderf

Hi,

can anybody help me through this :

I'm set up a local Wifi WAN - wifi router configured as a DHCP Server as
follow :

LAN IP address 192.168.0.1
Broadcast LAN IP addresss 192.168.255.255
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
DHCP start address 192.168.0.10
DHCP server end address 192.168.0.200

It works ok for any internet connectivity (web, mal, others...) for my 2 PCs
:
- desktop is 192.168.0.10 / no firewall
- laptop is 192.168.0.11 / no firewall

Pinging from one PC to itself (192.168.0.* IP) works fines, so does pinging
the router 192.168.0.1, but I just can't make both PC communicate with each
other : neither ping nor Microsft networks will give an other answer than a
timeout ...

The only difference is that one PC (my desktop) is on a workgroup, and the
other one (laptop from the office, of course...) is on a domain I don't own.

I just can't share any file or printers at all...

I fanybody has a clue....

Your laptop is setup for your work network correct? Being setup for a
domain means it's looking for a real server not just a DHCP server. If you
want to use it at work and at home you can ask your work network
administrator to add a PCMCIA card configured to work with your peer to peer
network to share files on your work group. All that is probably dependant
on your operating system. Talk to your network admin at work (if you have
one) to help you. If you just want to share files, but a "thumb drive" with
enough memory to move the files you need to share.
