XP, Networking and Heeelllppp!

I just picked up a new system from Dell. I have a network
for internet sharing that has been setup and working for a
very long time now. My problem is I can't get my new
system on the network to access the internet. I've tried
every possible setting I could find but still haven't had
any luck. Anyone have any clue of what I need to do to get
this working?

Need some info first. Can the server see the new system
and visa-versa?
 
No neither computer can see the other. Also the host
system is Windows 2000 Pro and the client is Win XP if
that info will help.
