XP Monitor Resolutions

I have a big monitor and like 1280x1024 but I have a few programs that look
much nicer in 800x600. Actually they are impossible to see in the high
resolution. Does XP provide a way where I can have JUST those few programs
switch resolutions when they are started? The programs themselves do not
have a resolution feature. I am A+ and Net+ certified and can get around XP
pretty good but maybe there is something I have overlooked. A script maybe?

Thanks!

The only thing I am aware of, and you might know this already, is that if
you right click the shortcut, select Properties, and view the Compatibility
tab, you'll see a Display settings section that allows you to make the
program run at 640x480. That's the only thing I have noticed in my brief
look in regards to this sort of issue. There are a few other compatibility
options there, but I don't think they'd help any.

Not sure, but if your video software supports it, you might want to look at
using different "desktops" with different settings so that you don't have to
manually switch resolutions for those programs. You could put them on a
"desktop" that is already at that resolution and run them from there, and
switch back and forth between desktops as needed. This is a feature of the
Detonator drivers for the nVidia cards, at least, and is part of the nView
setup. I haven't spent much time with it though, but I thought I'd mention
it as a possibility.

There's probably an easier method of doing all this, and perhaps someone
else will pop on with some advice.
