XP/Messenger/2 accounts conflicting

Bob

I have an hot mail account that the wife and I both
share, I am an army helicopter pilot away from my family
in alabama we both have video cameras and and are trying
to connect to messenger, it sees one of us being logged
on and when the other logs on it kicks the other one off
saying that you are already logged on so I opened a new
hotmail acct thinking that was the conflict, but still
seem to be having the same problem. I now have my own
netpassport but it still wants to recognize the one that
my wife is using. HELP!!!

You have a new Passport, but it sounds like your machine
is still defaulting to the old one. You need to log on
with your machine, then Sign Out (not EXIT), then right-
click the tray icon and select Sign In (not Sign In As
xxxxx.com), then extend the little window downwards if
necessary to reveal the words similar to "Sign in with a
different account", click on that bit, fill in your new
Passport and password in the next window, uncheck
the "Sign me in automatically" box, and in you go. Then,
your wife will be able to use the old Passport/hotmail
address to sign in automatically and you won't kick her
off any more. But you may have to continue to sign on
manually, however since you are using messenger for video
it sounds like your usage of messenger is important
enough for you that this huge Microsoft screw-up is worth
the effort to circumvent ) Just pray you don't
discover you want MSN *and* Windows Messenger both
running on both machines... that'll need FOUR Passports,
two of which will need to be signed in manually. D'OH!!!

Tony.
