XP machines slow to connect to 2000 server

My main PC has Windows 2000 server and then I have approx.
10 PC's win98, win95 and Win2000 pro. Two of the PC's are
XP and they both have trouble accessing the server shares
at times. You click on a network resource and sometimes
it can take 5 minutes to never to connect to the drive.
If you try this from other pc's it works in a second.
I thought upgrading to XP Pro from home would help but it
did not. I tried direct connecting to the server would
help but still same problem. When it seems to be stalled
we unplug the network cable it times out then we plug back
in and it may work, but not always.

Any suggestions

If you loaded the DNS software onto the server then you
have to make sure that the XP computers are configured to
use the server for DNS and not a Internet Provider. The
Win9x computers are not so picky about who is the DNS
server.
Hope this helps
