Xp logoff whenever login password given

I am using Window Xp in my workplace. When ever I tried to login it goes all
the way to login the windows while applying all personal settings etc but
suddenly it is running log off scripts and came back to ctrl+Alt+del screen.
I tried to run in different mode such as safe mode w/o network but ended with
same results. I don't what happens to it. There is no error message displayed
in between. Help to get into it.

This sounds like one of two things; the drive letter has change from
original install, or the drive permissions have changed.
