Hello, I am having a problem with XP. When I (or any
user, regardless of privleges) attempt to log in to XP
(Pro), immidatly after entering a password and pressing
enter the computer says Saving settings then it takes me
back to the login screen. BTW the login screen is the
win 2000 style, and until earler today it was
the 'friendly welcome' screen. I can log into windows in
safe mode, but untill I know what the problem is safe
mode doesn't do me much good :)..... Any sugestions you
have would be very much appreciated.

Hi Jag
Try this, log into safe mode, go to control panel/user accounts/in pick a
task choose "Change the way users log on or off" Then clear the check from
"Use the Welcome Screen" option. Restart your computer. Hopefully this will
allow you to log on by typing your user name and pass word. If this works
for you go to the following web site. There are some fixes for your welcome
screen.

Hope this helps.

I was going to try that, but as soon as I open the User
accounts applet it closes... and a few other control
panel aplets do the same. I think I'll try to restore
the os with the installation cd
