My XP (Professional) installation has suddenly started locking up on me. When it does, I get an hourglass, and it just stays that way. I can ctrl-alt-del for the task manager, but it doesn't come up, and if I try to ctrl-alt-del again, nothing happens. The only way I can get out of it is to unplug the machine and restart it. The following are showing up in my event logs:
In the application log, source: AutoEnrollment:
Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed to contact the active directory (0x8007054b). The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Enrollment will not be performed.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
In the system log:
Source: Service Control Manager:
The IMail LDAP Service service terminated with service-specific error 19 (0x13).
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
and finally:
Source: W32Time
The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or more time sources, however none of the sources are accessible. NtpClient has no source of accurate time.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
My inclination is to suspect the iMail program. Any suggestions? I hate to shut it down because that's my only email server.
Thanks.
Hollis
