I get a little icon in the sys tray that says:

limited or no connectivity

It won't connect and use dhcp to get an ip address.

I've tried everything I can think of. I have SP2
installed. Is there a way in xp to reinstall the TCP\IP
protocol?

Thanks

John

John,

Give LSP-Fix and WinsockXPFix <http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm>, or WinsockFix
<http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257> a shot.

If XP SP2, Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh winsock reset catalog" into the
command window.

If no help yet, reset TCP/IP.

Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh int ip reset c:\netsh.txt" into the command
window.

Thanks Chuck. The first option worked.

Man, between hurricanes down here in West Palm I've been
building this XP workstation for the school I teach part
time at. I was building a main template computer to clone
to the rest of the 14 workstations in the lab. I was a
little behind but Hurricane Frances trashed the school so
I had a little more time. Then Hurricane Jeanne provided a
little more time, then I got this Jeefo virus (who knows
from where) and the problem cropped up in my images. The
school opens on Monday (after being out for a month).
Thanks again. I was afraid I was going to have to re-build
the thing.

John,

Thanks for the updates, and for the news. Glad you made it thru the storms -
bet your UPS got a workout.
