I am considering using Quark in Windows XP and was
wondering if there their is a limit to the number of
fonts XP can handle.

Past OS versions have limits.

Thanks for any response!

As many as your RAM can handle. Maybe that is why publishers have soo much
RAM in their computers. Each font is loaded into RAM during startup. I have
512 meg of RAM and load over 700 fonts without any problem.

They are *not* all loaded at system start. A program may load them -
for example if Word is asked to display available fonts listing each in
a sample of itself. But the system does not - only the ones it needs to
use.
