Hi guys,
XP Pro
SP3 + all updates.

Ordered 2x1Gig memory, installed, and machine wouldn`t run.
Put old memory back in, and machine ran perfectly.

Contacted memory suppliers, and they said I needed to update
my BIOS.
So I updated to F15 ( the latest Gigabyte BIOS for my machine.

Previously had F8 for 4 years with no problems.

Returned the memory to the suppliers, and, am waiting for replacement
with different memory.

But I didn`t know whether their advice was good or bad.
Anyone have any ideas ??.

bw..

will have to wait and
see after you get the
replacements.

Why? 2GB Is far more than most people can make effective use of.

Who are the memory suppliers, and what brand of memory is it?

That sounds unlikely to me.

Updating the BIOS is very seldom needed, and always dangerous. If you
have a problem while doing it, you can left with an unbootable
computer.

Probably bad. Did the memory work after you updated the BIOS?
