I am unable to read any of my removable IDE drives
both the CD-RW and CD-DVD as well as my IO ZIP100
running XP pro. All three are shown in "my
computer" The HDU is partioned and all
are readable as are any USB1.0 Quick drives.

All three of the removable IDE drives were working
well without any problems.

Only two events are know to have occured prior to
the problem, which was first seen mid-December.
Installed the latest win xp critical upgrade and
started using Micro-advantage Quick drive 32MB and 64MB.

Reviewed many postings on similar problems and
have tried removing and re-installing all drives,
deleted UpperFilters/LowerFilters per M/S KBA 314060.

NOTHING works, each time after a CD or ZIP disk
is loaded, receive message "INSERT CD" or "INSERT DISK"
when clicking on drives in MY Computer or Windows
explorer.

Using "command prompt" and moving to drive
by typing "DRIVE:" (f:) or another drivename receive
the message "The parameter is incorrect"
if a non-valid drive would be selected the message
should be (and is)
"The system cannot find the drive specified"
????????

Device manager for Hardware has NO yellow flags
and each device is reported as working without
and conflicts.

HELP!!!

I have a very similar problem and setup to yours - I am
still trawling for a solution!
