Not sure about the cd icon on your mouse cursor, though there is the
possibility that some portion of an application software is loading at
bootup and is erroneously looking for something on a cd. Did you mean that
XP is getting slower and slower to bootup or just generally slow ?
Have you tried checking application software for settings that load a module
or something at startup and deactivating it/them using a proces of
elimination ?
Once in a "blue moon" on bootup, my hardware decides that it's no longer a
XP2600+ 166/333mhz ddr machine, and decides to be a 100mhz/200ddr machine,
thoought that hasn't happened for a couple of months now! Consequently,
there is a significant reduction in speed. That was just a thought, ...you
could check your hardware settings in bios.

I have noticed WIndows XP getting slower and slower. I ave checked for
worms and viruses to no avail. I have heard of "Memeory Leaks", and other
odd ideas. I have not downloaded or installed any new software. I have
also noticed that the CD icon on the curser continues to come and go. I
have no CD in the bay. Any thoughts?
