Hello and I hope this question isn't too long winded,
I have a problem XP and a Phillips 464 usb CD-writer. When I install, I get
the drive letter and icon, but it is showing up as a cdrom. The usb cable is
listed in the hardware manager under IDE/ATARI controllers, not the usb
section of the hardware, and won't load it's drivers, will only load the
computers system usb cable drivers . The drive icon in my computer says it's
Phillips PCRW 404, not 464, and loads the system cd drivers. I cannot get any
writing software to recognize it as a re-writer. I have tried to remove the
system cd drivers and the icon disapears. I have tried unplugging the usb
cable and replugging it and the computer automatically reinstalls the system
cd drivers and again identifies it as a regular rom. I have other usb II
items work, so that's not the problem. Help!!! Please.
