XP Installer

Each time I click on a Microft Application (Word, Excel,
Internet Explorer, Outlook Express etc.) I get windows
installer trying to update/instal XP Professional, which
is already my operating system. I can cancel and it goes
away but as soon as I use anything with the word or exe
containing Microsoft it pops up. I guess this is a virus
but I have scanned the system and it still happens.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Have you let it complete? Sometimes installing one program will break another, and the Windows installer will know that it needs to repair the broken application.
