XP Installation

I am currently running Windows ME on my home computer. I
purchased a Windows XP upgrade and am having a lot of
difficulty getting it installed. The process will go
through the first two steps: 1) Collecting Info and 2)
Dynamic Update, but when it goes through the third step 3)
Preparing Installation, the computer restarts. I then get
the XP logo and it goes back to 3) Preparing installation,
restarts, and continues this until I get a message saying
that "Setup cannot copy file -" and there is a laundry
list of about 50 .sys and .exe and .dll files that can't
be copied. Any idea how I might be able to rectify this?

Thanks.

Need more info from you about what hardware you have in
your computer such as how much RAM do you have, type and
size of hard disk, type and speed of CD-ROM you have,
etc. The more information you can provide, the better
answer you will get.
Having said that, it looks like to me could be several
things from RAM problem, or maybe I/O operations are
affected in some way. In other words, when XP tries to
copy some larger files to install XP, maybe your CD drive
might be having a problem. Please provide more hardware
information soon as you can.
