I'm trying to install XP on a fresh hard drive, it gets to the point
where all of the files have been copied from the CD to the computer and
then hangs forever. Anyone ever had this happen?

Thanks!

How much RAM memory?

It has lots, it used to run XP fine, I had a virus which forced me to
format the computer :|. Although it has 128meg FYI.

Obviously the machine did run for you with Windows
XP installed but 128 mb RAM is not really what is
normally needed. Minimum 256 mb
but 512 mb desirable.

Are you sure all hardware is compatible:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/howtobuy/upgrading/default.asp

See if this link helps:

Try it this way:
Disconnect all peripherals (camera, printer, scanner, etc)
Go to BIOS and set CDROM as boot device before hard drive.
Insert Windows XP CD and reboot.
At "Press any key to boot to CDROM" quickly press a key and follow the
prompts for a Clean installation:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp
Delete all partitions in step 5 if you desire to erase all data on the
hard drive.
Partitioning and formatting will be done automatically.
All data will be destroyed, back-up important data first.
