XP installation failure

I am trying to install XP, but after the installation gets to the very
first "starting windows" screen, I get the message stating
unmountable_boot_volume. I have tried 2 different motherboards, 3
different hard drives, 4 different 80 wire IDE cables, memory, new
power supply, and video cards. I have tried just about every
combination of BIOS settings you can imagine, and still the same
result.

I am about to pull my hair out over this problem. I never get far
enough into the installation to select a format or file system. It
hangs up very quickly.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Try opening BIOS on start-up,select cdrom for priority boot device, make
sure the IDE hd is listed, and set to 2nd priority, install xp cd,save and
exit BIOS,
boot to xp cd,then press R for recovery at info page,in recovery press enter
for password, then type:DiskPart In DiskPart delete the partition(s),create
one,
then press Esc key,then type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntfs When its thru,type:EXIT
let xp restart,then boot to xp cd,select,install xp,new copy.Also,before
doing the
above,clear the CMOS,set the pin from 1-2 position,to the 2-3 position for 1
minute, reset to 1-2,if no CMOS pin is on board, remove battery for 1 min.Make
sure power is off,BIOS will need normal setting adjustments after this.
