Xp install, new disk, old key

Originally i had a PC with windows XP home edition preinstalled. Over time i
have gradually replaced components and most recently i replaced my old
5400rpm hard disk with a larger SATA disk. I used the included Data
Lifeguard software to copy over the files onto the new hard disk and then
cleared the old disk for use as a backup. The problem is that there are a lot
of niggly faults with the new installation. Office needed reinstallation and
none of my icons have the correct image or file type association. I was
planning on reinstalling before i realised that i will need either a copy of
XP SP2 to reformat with the SATA disk as my boot disk or to get a new copy of
XP home edition and install the drivers as XP reloads. I am unable to install
the SATA drivers on my current system because it is a autorestore
installation based upon my old PC and thus does not allow installation of the
relevant drivers.

The question is can i get a new cheap OEM copy of XP sp2 with no CoA/
license key for a tenner and then use my COA/license key on it without any
legal or program hassle.

No. You need to purchase a conventional OEM
version of Windows XP with SP2 and use it and
the new Product Key that comes with it. Your
current Product Key is only valid when using
the PC manufacturer's recommended restore or
recovery method, which does not include using
a generic OEM Windows XP CD.

Selling an OEM CD without a COA is illegal
and should be avoided.

Example of what you need:

Microsoft Windows XP HOME Edition with Service Pack 2 - OEM
