XP Install Freezing...at -33!

I am trying to perform a clean install of Windows XP Professional on a
partitioned MAXTOR IDE 160GB Model 4R160L0 Hard Drive. The system boots OK
from the CD and goes through the routine up to: "Preparing Installation"
Installing Devices ...33 minutes remaining (exactly), upon which the
installation freezes.

The PC is a P4x 2.4Mhz CPU and I have been using it for years with a smaller
80Gb Hard Drive.
I disconnecting the original 80Gg HD before doing this and was installing
the 160Gb HD as Primary Master.
A google search on the subject pointed me to a Microsoft article about
disabling Antivirus but the Disk is clean and formatted. On Newsgroups I
couldn't locate a similar problem. I checked the HardDisk with Acronis Disk
Director with no reported faults. I also ran chkdsk on it when attached as a
slave. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Possibly the 34-minute issue?

Setup stops responding with 34 minutes remaining -

Read through the KB article above but basically this is caused by
hardware, either faulty or incompatible. Strip the machine down to
nothing more than 1 optical drive, 1 hard drive, and the video card and
try your installation. If it still fails, test your RAM with something
like Memtest86+ as a start.

It was a hardware problem:I replaced the Hard Disk and the installation
completed without further problems.
Thanks!
