XP Home-Word problem

I just purchased a laptop with the XP Home version OS.
After installing MS Office the word program starts, but
first a box appears with "MS Visual Basic- Compile error
in hidden module: autoexec" The same happens when I try
to exit Word. What happened, and how do I fix it? This is
irritating.

probably nothing to do with Word. check for computer viruses and syp-bot
programs. also, please ensure your new laptop is fully up to date with
patches prior to connecting to internet.
