xp home will only boot in safe mode

for over 24 hrs. i cannot boot my pc except in safe mode. i have restored it
and now lost all restore points i had yesterday. i hope there is a solution
to get it to boot in normal mode. it has told me to reinstall norton which i
can't do from safe mode. can anyone help? i'm lost without my good pc and
the net......lol i'm writing this on 10 yr. old pc with 64mb memory......ty

I had this problem on a clients PC ages ago (eg. the safe mode only, nortons
part), I fixed it by a) taking out the HDD and doing a full scan with
another PC uptodate AV b) then doing an inplace repair of XP
