XP Home w/ SP1 137GB limit

Hi folks;
I'm running WinXP home with SP1 installed. Now MS knowledge base says
that I can exceed the 137gb limit on an IDE drive in this scenario.
Now, I just bought a WD 200gb drive to use in my external enclosure
strictly for backups. On the site where I bought the drive, it says I
won't be able to use the full capacity of the drive unless I use a
special drive controller. I do have a Maxtor drive controller in my PC
that I use with a Maxtor 160gb drive, but the new drive I will be
hooking up to the USB 2.0 port using the external enclosure.
So...........
The question is, is MS correct and I will be able to use the full
200gb...........

or will I need to use this drive internally and connect it to the
Maxtor controller.

Thank you in advance.

Windows XP comes with the drivers for external USB harddrives.
Windows 98, 98SE and Me need to have the extra drivers installed.
Which might be what that site is talking about.
I plugged an external 160GB WD into my Windows XP computers USB ports,
worked fine, no extra drivers needed.

Or the site might be talking about the using the harddrive internally.
Motherboards that are more then 12-18 months old have the 137GB limit (its a
bios thing).
And need to have a newer add on controller card.
