XP Home Uses Remote Computer Folder as temp file

Keith

TEMP=C:\DOCUME~1\0987\LOCALS~1\Temp
TMP=C:\DOCUME~1\0987\LOCALS~1\Temp

This directory which is on a remote computer in the
local network is set as the temp, tmp directory and
programs are crashing that start up and access it.
How do I change this in XP? I just switched from
W98 so not familiar with the problem and cure.

Perhaps the programs need the temp folder *before* access to the remote
temp folder can be established - hence, they are crashing.

Suggestion:
Use a local temp folder.
