XP Home sp2 DEP question

I have an ABIT IC7 mobo, 1GB Geil DC DDR, P4 2.8C
processor. The Data Execution Prevention featured is
greyed out and the message says due to hardware design
your processor doesn;t support DEP. Is that normal for a
newer processor?
 
Intel supports DEP on its Itanium processors... the old P4s don't support
DEP.
