Running XP Home SP1 and after running bootvis to determine what is taking so
long during boot -- "Logon +Service is taking 90 seconds.
During this pause the hard drive light does not come on.
When it does get into XP it runs very fast.

Any idea what "Logon+Service" is and how to speed up the boot process ?

Thanks
Ron

This is usually to do with the registry. Services are programs that run
in the background, that do not need a GUI screen.
I would try a registry cleaner.
You said you had SP1 - there are many XP updates with SP2 etc.
When you install software and remove it, it leaves alot of junk in the
registry, as the add remove programs does not always clean all the
remains.

Rin, let me know if you still need help mate. This is a common problem
mainly because of a poor program that has been installed. It is tedious
to fix as you have to work our what is being referenced. But a registry
cleaner should be able to help. Look at freeware.com you may be able to
find a free version. Also search for a program called ewido - this is a
great program.
