XP Home Scheduled Tasks

Have XP Home with all updates on Gateway 700XL. Have been running Scheduled
Tasks successfully for some time, during the night by selecting "wake up
computer to run". But occasionally, they all fail to run and I can't seem
to get them to run again unless I blow them all away and create new tasks in
their place. I do have Norton AV Pro, but do not have Nortorn Security or
Nortorn Personal Firewall. A search does not find the possible suspected
file "nisum.dat". This info was in a tip that I read.

I do have and do use a password assigned to myself, as administrator, and
use it in setting up my tasks.

Since I do have my PC go to sleep, I do occasionally see a pop up box
saying that some tasks may not run because the scheduler is not running.
Well, most of the time my PC wakes up and runs the tasks just fine. So what
am I missing? Does anyone have any ideas on what might be taking out my
scheduler?

Does scheduler fail to wake up the system any other time except when you see
that message? If no, then it's just plain luck that it ran in spite of that
message and that message is the issue.

Please let us know if the issue arises again. You might also check event
log to see if you can find a corresponding error that might reference the
possible source of the problem. Open Control Panel, go to Administrative
Tools, open Even Viewer. Look for errors that appear to correspond to when
you had the issue, double click, the information inside might give a clue as
to the source.
