XP Home repair

I recently did a reinstall of a dell XPhome desktop. All went well except
for the RealTek HD5136 sound driver. RealTek's tech support says that the
OS is missing some files. Is their an option on an XPHome OS disc to
repair? What is the best way to use such an option?

Since it's a Dell, there may be a Software CD that came with the computer
or something
you can download from Dell's website.

Did they tell you which files these are?

Go to the Dell web site and see if they have a sound driver download
available for your exact Dell model number. If so then downloading
and installing that should resolve any "missing file" issues.

Good luck

Look on the back of the system for the Service Tag, then take that number to
the Dell Support site. You will find all the system drivers that
originally came with your system for download.

Do use the service tag, it will get you directly to the correct files for
your system.

Not sure if this is your problem, but:
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/>
"Certain third-party applications may not start, and you receive an
error message when you start the computer: "Illegal System DLL
Relocation""

For users of "Realtek HD Audio Control Panel" problem may occur
after you install security update 925902 (MS07-017) and security
update 928843 (MS07-008)

Yet another update to fix the error via the link above.
