I apologize if this has been covered, however I've been unable to find a good
solid resolution.
A Windows Repair, in most cases will fix many problems and there is no need
to restore files, settings, reload apps, etc. However if the computer owner
only has his Restore CD, it becomes more of a problem. A reformat and
reinstall causes loads of additional work for myself and the user, therefore
I try to avoid this solution if possible. The files and settings wizard will
allow you to backup most stuff, but not everything.
I have tried to do a repair with a different (legal) copy of Windows XP
Home, which works fine. However when it comes time for activation, things
just don't work out.
Any advise?
