xp home reboot in loop

S

skkt

I have powered off in mistake before pc shutdown completely
Then the XP Home prompt to choose boot in
1. Save Mode
2. Save Mode (with networking)
3. Save Mode (with command)

4. Last Health Boot
5. Normal Boot.

Whichever the item I chose, the pc will reboot before entering the window
again automatically.

How to solve it?
thanks.

I have seen this before with some hardware issues, perhaps you could try a
couple of things.

1) Try changing the video card and/or the RAM. I have seen faulty ones of
each of those cause such problems.
2) Make sure the BIOS settings are correct for both your CPU settings and
RAM settings.
3) Try unplugging unnecessary items to get a boot. That is, unplug the
CD-ROM, floppy drive, un-needed PCI cards, any USB devices not needed.
Perhaps one of those is causing a problem.
4) Are all your fans working? I once saw this problem caused by a defective
power supply fan. I got just far enough into a boot to get the PS hot, it
restarted, got hot again, restarted...

Good luck!

Then you most likely have a hardware issue.

Power off, open case and reseat all cables and cards.
If you have multiple memory sticks try removing/swapping them making
sure to stay above Windows XP 64mb minimum.

Perform a Clean Installation:
