XP Home re-install

I am working on a friends HP PC and am repartitioning her HD and
re-installtion the OS. She cannot find her OS installation CD. I tried using
my OS CD from my Dell but it appears that it uses my OS serial number. Her
product key information is on the PC. Do I have to order a replacement CD
from MS for her OS or is there another way to get through this?

Call HP and order replacement.
But, it seems that some HP OEM Windows Xp CD's do not
like Service Packs. Tell them to send you a real Windows
XP CD with everything on it and the product key on the
package.

I do not think HP will send me a "full" XP cd! :) But, if I am wrong, and
you know of way for them to give me one, let me know? I have an OEM disk
from HP which came with my laptop. But, it is as you say. It is the
industries way to use "Recovery Disks" in sets to reinstall the OS, apps,
etc.
But, if you know of a way to get a "real" XP cd from them let me know?

I meant that you could get an OEM XP CD that works, they
do have them and they can make them.
You'll nevr know until you try and put a little drama
into the fact that HP image recovery disks are just not
acceptible.

And you might try to get in line for at least an image
disk of the sliped stremed SP2 HP oem when they get it
together.

If a few hundred people would complain it might sent a
signal that the OEM gig is exposed and that will
hopefully create change for the better.

If you're not part of the solution then you're part of
the problem. :p
