XP HOME RE-INSTALL

Registration is always optional. Activation is mandatory and done over the
internet during install or you'll be prompted to call ms and get activated.
 
When re-installing how do you register "again"

Registration is optional. If you mean activate again, just follow
the prompts of the activation wizard. If it's been 120 days or more
since you last activated, activation should go through normally on the
web. Otherwise you may have to phone in for activation.
