I am trying to install the OEM full version on a PC which had WinMe loaded
previously. I was able to install XP over this, but would like to do a clean
install.

How do I accomplish this? Do I need to Format C: somehow, then how do I
access the CD Rom drive for the XP CD. Can the install run from a DOS prompt
somehow?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks.

OEMS can be a SOD.

Due the restrictions of the OEM i would create a boot
disk.

control panel --> add remove programs --> start up disk
tab
click on create disk.

When this is done boot of the floppy.
you can install xp from dos but less steps if you boot
from the cd

anways let the pc boot of the floppy
choose an option when the boot menu appears
I would start computer with cd rom support
when the boot process has completed at the command prompt
note what drive letter is allocated to your cd rom drive
type
format c:
then press enter

change to your cd drive

either
type
d: enter
or e: enter
maybe even f: enter

type

cd\i386 press enter

type
winnt32 press enter

a long winded way, but it works
once formatting you can re-start and boot of the cd.
JUST REMEMBER TO BACK UP UR DATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OEM versions of XP will only do clean installs, are you sure you didn't
actually get rid of Me?
You boot from the CD and do a clean install.

Perhaps the OP tried to install from WinMe and was greeted with the New
Installation option which they took and might have ended up with a dual boot
setup thus necessitating doing it all over again.

Boot on the XP OEM CD and you will have partition/format options before
installing.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
