XP Home Makes year 1601

When trying to install xp home, the date is changed to the 01/01/1601, the
system clock in the bios still says the 01/01/2005, but leaving the windows
clock date, set at this year, allows set up to complete. When windows is
required to activate, i'm not allowed to because the clock wrong. This means
i cant run anything.

If i change the date during setup, the computer simply wont boot. I get as
far as the windows is loading............. after a long while, and then it
reboots. Safe mode wont boot either, i guess some sort of date conflict?

Help, i have read everything i can find, and as far as i can tell my problem
is unique? Thinking it might be some sort of millenium bug related issue

Andrew,

Correctly set the clock in your BIOS (it is May 27th 2005) then reinstall.

Thanks mike,

Tried this already, all that happens is the sytem clock is 1605, not 1601, I
have been setting the bios to the correct time and date before installation,
druring and after installation it is always at the correct time and date.
Windows notifys me that my time and date are set incorrectly. I cannot get
windows to activate, i get message 32777, meaning that my clock is vastly
different from that of the activation server. I cant get into safemode,
without activation. There seems to be no way around for me.........

The you either have a bad Windows XP CD (unlikely if it is an original) or
some very odd hardware problem.
Do you have any other operating system you can install to see if it is
effected too ?
