xp home & laptop power options

Hello,

I have a Sony VAIO laptop, about 3 years old. Windows XP Home edition.

I use the "hibernation" mode a lot, which allows you to shut down with your
desktop and open windows intact, & resume where you left off.

I normally plug my laptop into the wall power between uses.

Lately, my laptop seems to be waking up out of hibermation mode
spontaneously (I hear the XP sound startup theme), but I can't seem to find
a power managment control that would allow this.

Is this possibly a VAIO oddity, or is there a windows contol somewhere that
I could adjust?

the laptop "wakes up" on it's own 24 to 48 hours after being put to sleep.

thanks,

BB

Brad,
In Control Panel, look for any Sony-specific applets that have something
like 'Hardware Setup' in the name. (ex: 'Toshiba HW Setup' on my laptop).
Go through every hardware adapter and look for a setting relating to
'Wake On <device>'. (ex: 'Wake On LAN' for an Ethernet card).
Then do the same for any non-Sony hardware applet.
Device Manager may have settings for this.

It could be triggered by acoustic noise through a microphone,
vibrations on a touchpad, motion detected by a camera,
signal to a wireless network card, etc.

You could also try the user forums at Sony.
