XP Home Install

I would like to move from XP Professional to XP Home. Can
I do this without first uninstalling Professional?

Not really. XP Pro is an 'upgrade' for XP Home so you can't install
Home over Pro. You will have to either install it to a different
partition or reformat your drive.

No you would have to format the drive and install xp home clean.

Thanks, I will re-format. I have had problems with DVD
software on xp prof that runs fine on xp home. I do not
understand this problem, but it appears that all the
services that are running under Prof have something to do
with it.

The _only_ way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

No - that one is a downgrade, and you have to do it as a clean install,
formatting the disk. Why bother? (unless you have another machine you
want to put the Pro on; and it would have to be a retail version to
allow that)
