I understand I can do a clean install using a XP Home Edition Upgrade CD
if I have the disk for my current OS(98SE). What if that disk is an OEM
version? Will I still be able to do a clean install on a new HD?

As long as it is actual an OEM Install CD and not some "restore CD" that
copies back an image of the factory setup.

You can even do it with a restore CD. It's more complicated, but it *can* be
done. First restore from the Restore CD. Then run the XP upgrade CD from
within that restored system, and change from Upgrade to New Install. When it
asks where, press Esc to delete the partition and start over.

Thanks, I was thinking clean install as in you didn't have to install
the old operating system. But the method you describe does produce a
clean install as opposed to an upgrade.
