I have a friend who has an E-machine running Windows XP Home Edition.
SHe has two users set up one for her and the other for her son. Him
and his friends had been surfing the web and contracted a virus. I had
her install Ad-Aware and updated her Norton subscription. Everything
was fine till Sunnday when they did the same thing again. Now I
cannot even log into Windows once the PC boots up. On the user screen
as soon as you click on there names the desktop comes up for a minute
and than logs off automatically. It happens with both users. Is this
virus related because it happens with both users? Any ideas?

Hello
When you say the puter logs off auto. does it shutdown or does it go back to
the log on screen.

If the puter is shuts down.
At log in go to
Start>Run>(type)cmd(enter)>(type)shutdown -a(enter)
This will stop the shutdown process while you repair the virus
infection.(notice the space between shutdown & -)

Download, Update & Run Ad-Aware

Download & Run one of these free virus scanners to double check your current
one.

Check this post:

If you can find no way of editing the registry outside Windows, try
using the recovery console and employing the following command

copy C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe
C:\Windows\system32\wsaupdater.exe

(this is one line separated by a space; supposing windows is installed
in C: and this was caused by blazefind)

Good luck
