I just got a new Sharp MP30 with a built in wireless adapter. This is what
happens:
It hooks up perfectly with the wireless network, goes along for a while,
then at some point, like during a download, it just stops receiving data.
And that's that. It says it's connected, but it doesn't receive anything
anymore.
When I "repair" with disable/enable it connects up fine, says its "renewing
my IP address" and "acquiring IP address" but it never does, and I end up
with a connection with no connectivity.
And the ONLY way to get out of it is to completely reset the router. Then
it's okay -- at least until it gives out again after a while.
Now, I have been able to observe that it really is my laptop doing this
somehow, because I have my other Win2K laptop hooked up with wireless, and
it has worked perfectly the whole time; and when my new one knocks out the
wireless connection, it is also knocked out for the Win2K laptop. It's
really gone.
Any ideas about what might be going on? It's a Netgear router, but ... as I
said, it has worked perfectly all this time, and continues to work perfectly
with the Win2K laptop; and in any case, this phenomenon also occurred with
another router.
Thanks for any ideas,
John
